“Good food that doesn’t cost the earth”
At the Atherton Food Co-op we source our fresh produce and grocery items from a wide variety of suppliers with an emphasis on sourcing produce from growers that are certified organic or certified biodynamic or at the ‘in conversion’ stage of their organic certification process.
We also have a lot of local suppliers that supply to us. This not only means that we can support our local growers and makers but it also reduces food miles and food waste to ensure that you get the freshest possible fruit and vegetables, bread, honey, eggs etc.
What does “Co-op Approved” mean?
We aim to support more small scale local producers with an affordable alternative to obtaining full organic certification by our national certification body to sell their organic produce through the co-op. This “Co-op Approved Suppliers Program” follows the National Organic Standards and ensures the integrity and quality of the produce that we have in store. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can help you with any questions you might have.
Where possible we support other cooperatives, small businesses with ethics similar to our own and prefer to purchase Australian grown and owned products.
